RECAP.

The LA Galaxy secured a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Club América. The game's lone breakthrough came in the 26th minute when Marco Reus curled a pinpoint free kick into the box. Defender Jakob Glesnes kept the play alive, nodding the ball into the path of Joseph Paintsil, who tapped it home from close range to give the Galaxy the lead.

What makes this showing particularly exciting is the sheer resilience of Greg Vanney’s squad. Heading into the mid-July stretch, the Galaxy’s roster has looked noticeably depleted. Following the blockbuster club-record transfer of star winger Gabriel Pec to Brazilian side Cruzeiro, the squad was left with a significant void to fill and even had to sign five players to short-term agreements just to round out the friendly lineup.
